Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (June 20, 2016) - Acclaimed Mexican Chef Casiano Reyes was appointed Executive Chef at Grand Miramar All Luxury Suites & Residences bringing a new level of culinary culture to Puerto Vallarta. Chef Casiano will oversee the resort’s three restaurants including La Mar, offering tantalizing international cuisine in a hip modern atmosphere, Cielito Lindo featuring authentic Mexican specialties and La Terraza, the poolside restaurant serving a la carte breakfast and lunch.
Chef Casiano has caused quite a stir with his namesake restaurants in Los Cabos and Riviera Nayarit, serving his “no menu” Spontaneous Cuisine. Now guests of Grand Miramar can experience this ever-changing, multi course, tasting menu based on the freshest, regional ingredients made available at the local market that day. Diners just advise on food preferences and allergies and Chef Casiano will create a series of “spontaneous” dishes tailored to their liking. Chef Casiano Reyes was born in Oaxaca, the cradle of cuisine in Mexico and the source of his inspiration. His first encounter with the culinary world was at the age of 14 when he worked in the kitchen of a small, local restaurant, and his love of food began. In 1992, he completed a Food and Beverage Degree at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City. In 1997, he became part of the esteemed Las Ventanas al Paraiso team as Executive Sous Chef, where he stayed five years fine-tuning his trade and obtaining great recognition among the hospitality and culinary industry including a “Manager of the Year” award.
Given his vast experience, he was invited to Las Vegas for the opening of several restaurants including Restaurant Anasazi of Santa Fe in Hotel Aladdin and the restaurant Bohemias Tapas Bar, which boasted a Latin concept. In 2003, he decided to open his own business, El Itakate, a catering service that brings the best Chef Casiano has to offer to private villas, apartments or any location.
Whether it is a dinner for two or an event for more than 1,000 people, El Itakate offers a next level culinary experience. And in 2012, Casiano had the honor to serve all the Presidents and Heads of State at the G20 Forum celebrated in Los Cabos. Casiano felt that 2005 was the perfect time for a new project. He didn’t want to be constrained by ingredients not in their prime condition or quality, so he coined and created Spontaneous Cuisine, an "ultimate culinary trip throughout different regions of Mexico” letting local available ingredients guide his culinary creations.
